Nashville Zoo Sunset Safari - Stones River Baking

Some exciting things have been happing around here. You may have seen on my Facebook already, but my amazing sister has launched her gluten-free cookie company! I can’t explain how proud I am of her. She is an amazing chef and baker and when she was diagnosed with Celiac two years ago, her kitchen changed quite a bit. The rest of her family was very sympathetic but was not interested in making the whole household gluten-free, for a good reason. Most gluten-free food pretty much sucks. So that’s when she took the challenge of creating her own cookie recipe that the whole family could enjoy. And let me tell you, these cookies rock. After a year of mixing and baking, she finally found the perfect mix.

YUM!

The finished product, Stones River Baking Cookies coming to a shelf near you!

On Thursday, September 6th, 2011 we were vendors at the Nashville Zoo Sunset Safari. The night of exploring involved food and drinks from all of Nashville’s top restaurants, bars and bakeries, live music and dance from many cultures and chances to interact with some of the zoo’s friendliest creatures. All proceeds benefit Nashville Zoo’s education and conservation programs.
We were across from the flamingos, my favorite animals of all time.
It was an incredible night to be a part of and we couldn’t have asked for a better chance to launch our name into the world. We featured our Cranberry-Raisin Oatmeal and chocolate chip cookies. We received incredible feedback and support from the gluten-free community as well as those who aren’t affected by celiac or a wheat allergy but just happen to enjoy great cookies!

Easton Corbin, biffles and Loser's

This past weekend, my biffle Casey came.
Even though we could easily do nothing, entertain each other for hours on end and be perfectly content, I decided she would probably rather get a feel for Nashville.
Lucky for her, it just so happen to be Easton Corbin's my future husband's album release party at Loser's bar.

We knew he was beautiful from his album cover but he was even better in person.
Extremely personable and very interactive with the audience.
Had we not been standing directly next to one of the cops, I may have tried to hop on stage.

I tried to upload a nice video of him rocking out but unfortunately blogger was being annoying.

 So go buy the album.
Cuz it's great.
And so is he.

Patriot's Game Recap

Happy Monday everyone!
I'm actually writing this post on Sunday night (cuz I'm a planner like that) and typing with one hand because I burned my hand on a frying pan while making dinner.
Ouch.
So any grammatical errors I blame on the one handed typing..

Now on to today's post, the Patriot's recap.

Last Sunday, September 9th, was The Tennessee Titan's opening game and they just so happen to be playing the Patriots. We bought our tickets before moving down here and ironically, it was the first Patriot's game I have gone to. A few of my friends who live in Memphis are also originally from New England and came up for the weekend to see the Pats dominate.

We were a little worried that we would be the only fans decked out in Pats gear but surprisingly everyone we met before, during and after the game were from New England so there was no shortage in Brady jerseys.
It was a beautiful, sunny, wonderful day and no surprise, we won.

Mireille and Ryan getting their drink on before the game. Central time means tailgating starts an hour early...

Morning mimosas to jump start the day

The only bud light cans in the store...trying to force team spirit. Pshhhh

Just a little update

We have been lacking a little on our blogging as of late.
With weekends full of plans and weekdays full of work, we have a been a little busy.
But don't worry too much, we will be back in full force next week with recaps of our shenanigans.

Oh, you want a preview of what's to come? Okay, fine.

*************

However, today is a special day, one of bffs4lyfe is coming to visit for the weekend!!

There we are. Loving each other
To say I am excited would be the understatement of the year.
I literally, actually did not sleep last night.
Just like a little kid on Christmas Eve.
So you can bet I will get a speeding ticket on the way home from work today because of my 5 cups of coffee caffeine high that beautiful face will be waiting for me.

Memphis Zoo Brew

This past labor day weekend both Lizzy and I were out of town. Lizzy at a wedding in Denver and I went to visit a sorority sister in Memphis.

One of the great parts about moving from all I've ever known (New England) to this brand new place (Tennessee) was knowing that one of my best friends from school was a short three hour drive away.

Friday night we went to the Memphis Zoo Brew.
Fun fact: I've never been to a zoo, like ever.
So I was wicked excited.
Despite the rain and the fact that all the animals were put away, I had a blast. It was so fun trying all the different kinds of beer and we even found a playground to run around on.
Because I am mature like that.

I'm still not sure I can say I've been to a zoo since I still haven't seen an animal. Oh well.

Mireille grabbing some Harpoon Cider. I may have gone back six times for this

When I was in the 4th grade I started a "Panda Club". You had to be named Emily AND love pandas to join. Needless to say it was very exclusive with only two members

That beer tasted like bacon. Me no likey

Annnnnnnnnd we found the playground

Oh and then the monsoon started and they wouldn't let us leave. Good thing there was beer.

We also went to a fair while I was in Memphis which is where I saw these. Just in case you ever wondered what Monkey Farts smelled like

I followed a rainbow all the way back to Nashville :)

Overall it was a great weekend and so nice to see a friend from home.
Best part is, Mireille is coming to Nashville this weekend to go to the Titans Patriots game!

Labor Day Love

Labor Day traditionally marks the end of summer.
At least where we are from in New England.
Lucky for us, summer doesn't seem to be slowing down here anytime soon.

Hope you all had a great long weekend!
