Halloween in Memphis

This past weekend I went to Memphis to celebrate my friend, Mireilles birthday which just so happens to be on Halloween.
I have a theory that most things are more fun in groups, more people, more fun, right?
Halloween costumes are no exception to this rule, we decided to dress up like Holiday’s and I chose to be The 4th of July.
Sun, fun, summer, water, darties - - what’s not to love about the holiday?
I thought I had picked the best one until I started to figure out what exactly my costume would be.
It’s kind of hard to dress as a firework.
Of course it all worked out and I was actually very pleased with my costume. Nothing a quick trip to JoAnn’s can’t fix.
I wish I had more pictures to share with you but unfortunately most of them turned out like these:

I know. Profesh Photog right here.

We did go to a disco. Yup. Never been to one of those before. It was pretty much like the twilight zone, I’m still not 100% convinced that it was real. Any place that has a see through floor with neon lights under it, a ceiling full of balloons with the strings hanging in your face and stripper poles every two inches is a bit questionable in my book. With that said…I would go back tomorrow.

Crafting our creations..day long event. Thank you Adams Family marathon

Finished Product: Halloween, 4th of July, Christmas (x2) and Valentine's Day

Ta-Da! The Finished Product.

One costume down and another to create tonight….what shall we be this time?

Friday Letters

Dear Friday: Thank you for finally showing your beautiful face today!! Even though we got off to a rough start this morning (forgot my tank was empty and had to make a pit stop for gas then forgot my cell phone at home and had to turn around) you seem to now be cooperating. Maybe it's that SKVL that we drank because we all know those make most things better.

Dear Memphis: I'm coming for you this weekend to celebrate a besites birthday. I'm not sure if you are ready for me and I'm not sure I'm ready for you. However, I am sure that my Halloween costume for Saturday night is coming together. Fireworks, is all I have to say.

Dear Fall: I know I thank you every day for being awesome, but seriously thank you for being awesome. Even when its 80 degrees out (cough, cough yesterday) the amazing colors of the foliage still make my heart happy.

Dear Little: I'm not sure my work day would go by half as fast if it weren't for you. Plus you deserve about 394843 virtual high fives. You know the reason.

Dear Halloween: You sneaky devil, you. How did you get here so fast and what did you do with the month of October?! I'm way behind in preparing for you, no jack-o-lanterns, no spiderwebs and no ghosts. But candy, I did buy candy. To prepare for the nonexistent tricker treaters who will roam the halls of our complex...or so I tell myself.

Dear Katie and Steph: Thank you for the link-up! Also, thank you for being two of my favorite bloggers and providing me with daily laughs and entertainment.

Well, my friends, that's it for today!
Must get back to work so I can finish for the day and my botty to Memphis!

XOXO

Saw It. Pinned It. Did It.

When I saw this new link up by two of my most favorite bloggers, Katie and Steph, I thought to myself "I have to participate".
But then I realized something
I stare at Pinterest for hours a day and am constantly pinning things however, putting those pins to use is something I have yet to do.
One day I will.
When I own a house.
Or get married.
Or have an endless amount of free time and gift cards to Michael's.

So you see my problem, what would I link up?
Then I remembered..one time I saw, I pinned and I failed.
I figured that must kind of count?
They never said you had to succeed at said pin.

It started last Christmas when my mom asked me to make a dessert.
I instantly remembered these adorable cookies I saw on Pinterest:

Seemed pretty easy, right?
I bought the ingredients, put on some Christmas music and got to work.

Everything was going well until I realized I bought the 'gel' version of the icing tubes.
"can't make that big of a difference" - I thought

hold up: this post just lost its climax: I guess I was SO embarrassed I deleted the pictures but I can assure you they looked worse than both of these (at least I'm not the only one who failed):

If I ever stumble across those pictures in a trash can somewhere you best believe I will redeem by failed cookies and post them here :)

Fall Fun Day

One of my biggest fears when moving to Nashville was that I would miss out on the typical New England fall.
Foliage, pumpkins, apples and crisp air are some of my most favorite things.

As October began, Lizzy and I found ourselves constantly saying how it just didn't look like 'fall' but friends and co-workers kept assuring us Fall was coming.
Well my friends, the people were right.
The colors of the foliage are incredible and the weather recently has been amazing. We decided to take this chance to do a 'fall activities" weekend.

We kicked it off by scouting a few grocery stores before finding authentic Apple Cider.
Which needs to be purchased chilled.
Not room temp in the "juice", Mr. Publix man.
Just so you know.

Saturday we planned to go to an all-inclusive fall activities farm, Honeysuckle Hill Farm.
Doesn't it just sound perfect?
It was better than we anticipated however we kind of felt that we should of had a child or two with us..
There was SO much to do.
Duck races
Tractor pulls
Amazing playgrounds
A huge box filled with 1000's of pounds of corn kernels
Pumpkin patch
Petting Zoo
Zip line
Hay Ride
Pumpkin launcher
and much more..

Honeysuckle Hill Farm

All the fun attractions!

A 3 horned goat. I cannot understand why they didn't make a bigger deal out of this. There is no way this is common.

The six of us searched and searched until we found the best 6 mini pumpkins, our souvenirs from the hayride.

Lizzy and I lost in the cornfield
It was great to get out of city and have a day full of autumn activities!

UNH Homecoming Recap 2012

Once again Homecoming did not disappoint.
The weather the beautiful, the temperature was perfect and the beers were flowing.
I would go as far as to say it was my most favorite homecoming to date.

Since I am a cliche sorority girl through-and-though, I decided with my bestie, Korrin, to design alumni shirts. I figured a few people might want them but never imagined 28 alumni would contact me about ordering one.  I was a little overwhelmed and a bit stressed but everything worked out and people LOVED their shirts.
I totally should have overcharged and made a profit. Next time, friends, next time.
They ended but being extremely useful because it made it easy to spot your friends in the see of navy blue and white at the tailgate.

A few of us decided to stay the night at our sorority, Chi Omega, and it was awesome. We slept in the TV room on the brand new comfy couches that college-emily is very jealous she didn't have. Waking up there and sitting in the kitchen for hours after, chatting about the day before with all the girls, really made me feel like I was back in college.

I couldn't have asked for a better weekend and I never wanted it to end.
Let the countdown for next year commence!

Some of us girls outside the Banana

Part of Fall 07 <3

The Back of the shirts. Never enough owls

Me and Casey

Me and the little. Matching koozies, duh.

"We are the three best friends.."

Standard shotgun

Nothing better than a little after-shotgun reaction shot

He was trying to get us to leave when the tailgate was over.  We were trying to get him to chug a beer

Apparently the truck ride back to campus was fun

An unwanted and too soon goodbye

Requesting tunes. Most likely Tay

The Tailgate

Oh and in case you didn't know, today is a holiday in my world as today is the day Taylor Swift's Red album is released.

UNH Homecoming 2012

College was the best four years of my life.
I feel sad for people who were 'ready' to graduate and move on because in my mind, it means they didn't get to have the same amazing experience I did.
I never wanted to leave.
Spending all day everyday with your best friends...priceless.
I would go back in a second.

Lucky for us, there is still one weekend a year when we all get to go back to school, hang out with our best friends and pretend, just for a minute, we are co-ed's once again.

That's right my friends, it's homecoming time.
I fly out today at 6AM and land in Boston at noon.
I'll be there for a little more than 48 hours but you can best believe it will be the best 48 hours I've had in a long time.

I haven't slept all week because, as the little girl in the Disney commercial used to say, "I was too excited to sleep!"

I'll give a recap next week but for now, some of favorite moments from the past.

XOXO

AT&T Uverse sucks but Zac Brown Band rocks

So AT&T Uverse sucks.
That's putting it lightly.
We didn't have cable or internet for 9 days. NINE.
I called India every single night to complain and get an update on the progress.
Every night they let us know there was "an outage in our area" um, okay.
Iono about you but I have had cable in my life for 24 years and I have never experienced something like this.
Maybe the cable would go out if there was a snow storm that was bad enough.
But we are in Tennessee, no snow.

Anyway, I hope to get back in to this little ole' blog and keep logging our memories.

A few weekends ago (September 22) we attended the Southern Ground Musical Festival here in Nashville.
It's a two day, two night concert headlined by Zac Brown Band with an endless amount of other talent.
We decided to just go on Saturday to save our livers so we wouldn't be too tired.
The line up consisted of:
 - The Lumineers
- Edward Sharpe & The Magnetic Zeros
- Los Loney Boys
- David Gray
...Just to name a few
Oh and a special appearance by John Mayer.
Yup best concert ever.

It was a beautiful day and we had so much fun, met really random friends and drank a few too many tall boys.

Oh another great part, if you downloaded the Southern Ground Musical Festival app, you got a free tall boy koozie.
If you know even a little about me you know I ALWAYS have a koozie on me so this upped the awesomeness about 100 points.

So anyway...the day, in pictures:
The Koozies!

The Stage

The Lumineers. AMAZING = understatement

The Lumineers, again.

...and one more time

The cutest old man had the hardest time taking this picture

Friends.

Zac and John. Awesome.

Hopefully our internet doesn't fail again so we can keep at this!
